From painting the family shed in yellow emulsion to dismantling anything he could get his hands on, Michael’s love for craft was evident early on. Although he studied graphic design, art, and photography, it wasn’t until he met a Hatton Garden diamond mounter by chance that he discovered his true calling. Under the guidance of London’s finest craftsmen, Michael trained as a goldsmith and diamond mounter, making pieces for prestigious collections like De Beers. In 1981, Michael, along with his parents, opened Lanes Jewellery in Norfolk, bringing a personal touch to the jewellery world. The family business was born and has grown ever since.

From a young age, Josh was surrounded by the world of diamonds, starting his training at just 15. His hard work paid off when he became one of the youngest to pass an advanced diamond grading course in Antwerp. Josh has since developed a keen interest in prestige watches, which has helped Lanes expand and thrive in new directions. Father and son have always worked closely together, with Michael passing on his expert skills and knowledge to Josh. In 2021, Josh officially took over the business, while Michael, now semi-retired, still works alongside him in the workshop. Their close bond shows in everything they do, from crafting custom pieces to offering expert advice to every customer that walks through the door.

With a sharp eye for detail and a natural flair for communication, Sasha brings fresh energy to Lanes Jewellery. She leads the brand’s social media presence and plays a key role in customer experience, ensuring every interaction feels personal and warm. Sasha’s passion for storytelling and service bridges tradition with a modern touch, helping the business connect with a new generation of jewellery lovers while staying true to its roots.
